The German Conductor, Stefan Bone, is currently Kapellmeister at the Opera House Kiel, where he can be seen live, behind the conductor`s stand at the Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra, in opera and ballet performances (i.a. Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La Muette de Portici, Aleko, Francesca da Rimini, Cinderella, La Sylphide, Coppélia, My Fair Lady) as well as family and gala concerts. Before, he was engaged as a solo répétiteur in Kiel, responsible for the rehearsals of works such as Die Walküre, Siegfried, Götterdämmerung, Arabella, Rigoletto and Turandot. He recently made his English National Ballet debut with Tschaikowsky`s Sleeping Beauty in the London Coliseum and conducted a new production of Mozart`s The Abduction from the Seraglio on the festival Musik und Theater Saar. In March 2019, he made his Chemnitz Opera debut with Mozart`s Magic Flute.
Prior to his work in Kiel, Stefan Bone was Chief Conductor of the Freiburg Orchestral Society. From 2013 to 2016, he was a lecturer in coaching at the University of Music Saar and was active as a pianist at the Freiburg City Theater.
From 2012 to 2016, Stefan Bone studied orchestra conducting with Professor Lutz Köhler, Professor Scott Sandmeier and Massimiliano Matesic at the University of Music Freiburg. There he stood at the conductor’s stand for productions such as La Finta Giardiniera, Le Docteur Miracle and Les Mamelles de Tirésias. He was the finalist for the Neeme-Järvi Conducting Prize at the Menuhin Festival Gstaad in 2015, and in the same year he was one of four finalists competing for the Sir Georg Solti Fellowship of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Stefan Bone has received special support from the conductors: Paavo Järvi, Georg Fritzsch and Leonid Grin. He assisted them in philharmonic concerts at the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Chile in Santiago de Chile, as well as in Buenos Aires at Teatro Colón and the Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires in 2016. In the same year he helped Paavo Järvi in a series of concerts with the Sinfonietta Riga and the Estonian Festival Orchestra and assisted him in his Elbphilharmonie debut concert with NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and Shostakowitsch`s Leningrad Symphony.
Among the orchestras directed by Stefan Bone are the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, the Sinfonietta Berlin, the Mannheim Chamber Orchestra, the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra in Chemnitz, the English National Ballet Philharmonic, the Gstaad Festival Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra of Chile and the South Denmark Philharmonic Orchestra.
He perfected his skills with David Zinman, Paavo Järvi, Neeme Järvi, Gennady Rozhdesvensky, Leonid Grin and Roberto Paternostro.
Stefan Bone completed his piano studies with Professor Kristin Merscher with a bachelor's and master degree at the University of Music Saar. He gained further assistance in piano and chamber music from Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Arbo Valdma, Tatevik Mokatsian, Eduard Brunner and Vassilia Efsthatiadou. He is the first winner of the Concours artistique d`Epinal in the chamber music category and has been funded by the Doms Foundation Basel, the Anna Ruths Foundation, the Saarland Foundation and the Bruno and Elisabeth Meindl Foundation.
